Quick answer: An AI girlfriend with voice sends spoken replies, and some apps also sell calls. In my tests, Nectar AI’s character sent voice messages on the free plan on 10/16/2026, the only voice I saw working. Calls are priced per minute where an app publishes a rate. For scores, see which AI girlfriend app scored highest.
There’s no audio sample on this page yet. I haven’t published a recording from my tests, so what follows is what I saw on screen and what the apps’ own pages say.
Can an AI girlfriend talk to you?
Yes, in three different ways, and apps price them differently. A voice message is a short audio clip attached to a reply. A voice call is a live conversation, usually billed by the minute. A video call would add a moving picture, and I haven’t seen one offered in the apps I checked.
Voice messages are the common part. Nectar AI’s plans list 50 voice messages on Premium and 100 on its top plan, and Lovescape lists “Voice messages” on its Premium card. GirlfriendGPT’s Deluxe plan lists “Voice,” while its cheaper Premium plan doesn’t. Calls are rarer and always cost extra where they’re priced.
What to check before you pick one
Check three things: whether any voice is free, how the app prices a message or a minute, and whether you can pick the voice. Payment rules and refunds sit in what each app puts in the fine print.
- Free voice. Nectar AI sent voice messages in my free account. GirlfriendGPT’s site code points to its Deluxe or Elite plan for audio.
- The unit. Apps charge in their own coins, tokens, or Moments, and a few don’t publish the price at all.
- Voice choice. Swipey AI’s builder had a voice option, and its help charges 10 Hearts for a voice change.
- What’s kept. Secrets AI says call audio is “transcribed in real time and the audio is immediately and permanently deleted.”
Step 1: Pick an app and create an account
Pick an app by the kind of voice you want, then sign up with an email or a social login. None of the apps where I opened a free account asked for a card. Nectar AI, the one where I saw voice work, sent a one-time code by email.
Of the apps on this page, GirlfriendGPT has the top score so far.
Step 2: Turn on voice messages
In Nectar AI, the one app where I saw it work, voice needed no setup. Nectar AI attached voice messages to replies on its own, from 10 seconds to just over a minute, on 10/16/2026. One of them came with the answer to my memory question.
GirlfriendGPT shows a Play button under each reply and a microphone button by the input field, and I didn’t press either. Its coin list prices text-to-speech at 2 coins per 100 characters, while its site code says, “Upgrade to Deluxe or Elite for Audio.”
You can pick a voice before the first message in some builders. Swipey AI’s builder had a voice option, set to “Mature,” on 10/17/2026, and I didn’t save that character. Its replies also carry a play button, which I didn’t press.
Step 3: Start a voice or video call
I haven’t started a call in any app yet, so this step is what the apps say about their own calls. Nectar AI’s docs say calls are “charged by the minute, separately from your subscription,” and its top plan lists “Voice Chat.” Its chat header showed phone and camera icons, which I didn’t press.
Secrets AI’s wiki prices an audio call at 50 Moments a minute, and its free tier can’t buy Moments. GirlfriendGPT lists “Call Me” at 2 coins per 100 characters. Swipey AI shows “Call me” in the chat header, and its help says the per-minute rate is “shown once before your first call.”
What voice costs
Voice costs app currency, not dollars, and a unit is worth a different amount in each app. The table shows what I saw in an account or read on each app’s pages, as of 10/14/2026 to 10/17/2026. Apps with a final score of 7.0 or more come first.

If you’d rather use something else
If free voice matters most, read everything we found on Nectar AI, the one that sent voice messages without a plan. If you want calls with a published price, see everything we found on Secrets AI. Its calls need a paid plan, and I haven’t made a call there yet, as of 10/17/2026.

FAQ
Can you call an AI girlfriend?
Some apps sell calls, but I haven’t made one yet. Nectar AI’s docs say calls are “charged by the minute, separately from your subscription.” Secrets AI’s wiki prices an audio call at 50 Moments a minute. GirlfriendGPT lists a “Call Me” feature in its coin prices, at 2 coins per 100 characters.
Is AI girlfriend voice chat free?
Voice messages can be, but calls cost extra in every app that prices them. Nectar AI’s character sent voice messages in my free account on 10/16/2026, while GirlfriendGPT’s site code says, “Upgrade to Deluxe or Elite for Audio.” Secrets AI’s free tier can’t buy the Moments that calls cost.
Can you video call an AI girlfriend?
I haven’t seen a live video call offered in the plans and pages I read. Video in these apps usually means a generated clip: Swipey AI’s chat box offers a 10-second video, and GirlfriendGPT’s Deluxe plan lists “Video Generation In Chat.” Nectar AI’s chat header shows a camera icon, which I didn’t press.
How many tokens does a voice call cost?
Where it’s published, the rate is per minute in the app’s own currency. Secrets AI’s wiki lists 50 Moments a minute, and Swipey AI’s help says its rate is “shown once before your first call.” Nectar AI bills calls by the minute but doesn’t publish the rate. A Moment or a Heart has a different dollar value in each app, so compare packs before you buy.
Can you choose the character’s voice?
In some apps, yes. Swipey AI’s character builder had a voice option, set to “Mature” in my test on 10/17/2026, though I didn’t save that character. Its help prices a change on a saved character at “15 Hearts per saved edit, plus 10 for a voice change.” I haven’t checked voice settings in the other apps yet, so I can’t say how many voices they offer.
